Michigan State University Global Festival
A free event drawing thousands of community members each year for cultural exchange through live performances, country exhibits, a global gift store and more.
Organizing this event was a months-long process including:
convening a planning committee of stakeholders
raising funds from community partners to build an event budget
managing logistics for exhibits, performances and the gift shop
marketing the event across campus and in the wider community
recruiting and training 100 day-of volunteers to make the event a success
completing surveys during the event to collect feedback and make improvements each year
Porchlight Idea
Creating workshops where attendees could learn from performers and try out dance moves, martial arts and Chinese yo-yo’s in a dance studio during the event.
